Why We Started Wander - to Support Rural, Regional & Remote Organisations

When we launched Wander, it was driven by frustration—a frustration that organisations and businesses in regional and remote communities were being overlooked and under-served. For years, we witnessed the disparity in resources and support between metropolitan and remote areas, and we knew something needed to change. Frankly, we were irritated that businesses in country areas were being left behind while others thrived. That’s why Wander exists: to fill the gaps, to be the solution, and to make a tangible difference for the communities we care about.

The Reality on the Ground

Even in larger regional centers like Albany and Kalgoorlie, visits from organisations designed to help small business, be that government or privately owned, can be inconsistent. In more remote locations like Laverton or Hopetoun, they are almost non-existent. The further you are from a city, the harder it becomes to access high quality business support.

We understand the isolation and challenges of running a business far from the city. Geographical isolation brings unique challenges, from limited access to resources and technological difficulties to fewer networking opportunities, and we’re here to address those head-on. That’s why we go the extra mile—literally—to ensure you get the support you need.

This is where Wander steps in. Our mission is to level the playing field for our regional and remote clients, making sure no one is left behind simply because of their location.

Our Approach: Hands-On and Hand Shakes

We are country people helping country people. At Wander, we don’t just talk about supporting regional and remote businesses—we show up. While we’re no strangers to Teams meetings and digital communication, we value face-to-face interactions. That’s why we travel across Western Australia, meeting clients and potential clients in their own communities. We take the time to understand their challenges and opportunities firsthand. There’s no substitute for looking someone in the eye, shaking their hand, and seeing their environment through their perspective.

We make the effort to get out there, even if it means long drives and nights in swags. We know that local problems need local perspectives, and we’re here to provide tailored, on-the-ground support. This commitment to being present and genuinely engaging with the businesses we serve is what sets us apart.

Be the Change with Us

We’re determined to be the change we want to see. So, if you’re a business in a regional or remote area of Western Australia and want someone who understands your challenges, reach out to us. Whether you’re in the heart of Halls Creek or the outskirts of Eucla, we’ll come to support you.
